Refreshingly Delicious Excuses To Use A Straw In Vancouver – Take Out Edition

image1

by Nicole Arnett | With weather this nice forecasted to last for a while, it’s vital to remember that there are some truly fantastic drinks options beyond plain old H2O. I’ve selected my Top Five take-out (alcohol-free) options below for your ranking consideration…

Shaken Iced Teas from Treasure Green Tea | 227 East Georgia Street | This veteran tea shop (established 1981) is a go-to respite when winter hits (hello Asian Secret of Beauty Wellness Tea), but tea master and owner Olivia Chan deals with the heat just as well, serving her delicately flavoured teas shaken with fruit and ice. Do your worst, summer!

Temple Tonic from Living Produce Aisle by Urban Cultivator | 1168 Hamilton Street | Bright green, packed with vitamins and just a teeny bit spicy from all that arugula and wheatgrass, the Temple Tonic is a one-stop shop of nutrition and refreshment. Win/win.

Aloe Green from The Juice Truck | 28 W. 5th Ave or corner of Abbott & Water | You can’t go wrong with anything from the shop or truck, especially on a muggy afternoon, but the Aloe Green is a perfect decision for those on the fence of the smoothie/ juice debate. Hydration for days!

Vanilla Malted from Glenburn Soda Shoppe | 4090 Hastings Street at Glenburn | Though it’s technically Burnaby and not Vancouver, hese folks know their way around a classic. There are dozens of nostalgic treats in this awesome little Burnaby parlour, but we’ll take our 3000 calories straight and topped with a cherry please & thank you.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee from Au Petit Cafe | 4851 Main Street | This classic cafe offers a perfect hot day ‘punch in the face’ wake up call. Not a great idea to order this after 12PM if you plan to sleep at night but we feel like this drink has been scientifically formulated to keep you cool and focused like a laser beam.
