King Richard | sports | The nickname of Vancouver Canucks goaltending legend Richard Brodeur, who backstopped the team to their first ever Stanley Cup Final run in 1982. Born and raised in Quebec, the diminutive ‘King Richard’ (5’6″) played 337 games over 7 seasons for the Canucks, leaving the game in 1988. After starting a hockey school, working as a French language hockey commentator, selling beer for the Labatt Brewing Company and managing a hotel or two, he is now an artist who paint with oils.
