Elem Appoints Award-Winning Sommelier Jayton Paul to Lead Wine Program

Vancouver, BC | Elem has brought on one of the country’s most respected sommeliers, appointing Jayton Paul to lead its wine program as the restaurant continues to define its place in Vancouver’s dining landscape.

A nationally recognized sommelier known for his expertise, leadership, and approachable style, Paul is widely respected within Canada’s wine and hospitality community.

Paul was named Best Sommelier of British Columbia (CAPS) in 2022 and Sommelier of the Year at the Vancouver International Wine Festival in 2022. He was also the inaugural recipient of the Michelin Guide Vancouver Sommelier Award, further cementing his reputation as one of the country’s leading wine professionals.

Prior to joining ELEM, Paul served as Wine Director at the one-Michelin-starred restaurant Published on Main. During his tenure, the restaurant earned and retained its Michelin star, was named #1 on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants in 2022, and was later ranked #28 on North America’s 50 Best Restaurants. There, he helped shape one of the country’s most acclaimed wine programs.

A BC Wine Ambassador certified by Wine Growers British Columbia, Paul is also a passionate advocate for Canadian wine and industry education. He is a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and a DipWSET candidate with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

At ELEM, Paul intends to build a thoughtful wine program that complements the cuisine, showcases world-class producers, and maintains a deep respect for British Columbia’s evolving wine landscape.
