Ballet BC’s New Season Kicks Off With Three Ballets at November’s Start

Photo by Michael Slobodian via the Ballet BC website

Ballet BC is kicking off their new season with performances on November 1, 2 and 3 at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and we’re super excited to check out what’s in store. The first three ballets include two World Premieres and one first-time Canadian performance, featuring a range of styles and artistic choices.

The first dance performance is called Petite Cérémonie. The story was inspired by the concept of ‘life in a box’ and is told through movement. Choreographer Medhi Walerski is known for his out of the box and completely out of this world aesthetic. Following that is a new, blues-inspired work by Ballet BC’s Artistic Director, Emily Molnar, featuring the tunes of rock great Jimi Hendrix, which has us more than a little bit intrigued! The program finishes on a tense note, with a captivating performance of the groundbreaking 1989 ballet, Enemy in the Figure, which is choreographed to music by Dutch composer Thom Willems.

We all know that November can be pretty bleak, so we think it’s a great idea to change up our entertainment with something more stimulating than another night in front of a small screen at home. Get your hands on some tickets here.
