Portable Pad Thai From Angus An’s New ‘Sen Pad Thai’

IMG_7211

by Andrew Morrison | Walking around Granville Island chopsticking through a bright box of Pad Thai is my new favourite way of exploring Granville Island Public Market (albeit still with a Honey Dip chaser from Lee’s Donuts). The stir-fried, tamarind-licked situation comes from Sen Pad Thai, the new noodle joint from chef Angus An, who also owns Freebird Chicken, Longtail Kitchen, Fat Mao Noodles, and Maenam (a perennial Scout 25 favourite). The counter-service eatery is located in the Net Loft section of the island, with a menu loaded with Pad riffs (eg. Pad Ki Mao, Khao Pad, Pad Ga Pao, Pad Pu Sen Chan, among others). There are also communal solutions for those who’d prefer to sit, but I much prefer to eat when I shop for ingredients (it keeps me focused). The cost is $12, and away you go. Bonus: Thai omelettes with crab and sausage.
