The Goods from Banda Volpi Hospitality
Vancouver, BC | Banda Volpi Hospitality is excited to share that Adam Newbery has been promoted to Service Director for the restaurant group behind Elio Volpe, Savio Volpe, Pepino’s Spaghetti House, and La Tana.
Adam has always been one to take the path less traveled, and his road to hospitality was no exception. One might expect his story to begin in a dining room; instead, it began at his brother-in-law’s car dealership, where he learned that true connection isn’t about a product, but about how you make people feel. To him, it was deeper than selling a car and handing over the keys – he wanted to surpass expectations, to share moments of genuine connection that lingered long after clients had driven off the lot.
That impulse carried into his next role in B2B sales, where the most meaningful conversations always happened around the table – telling stories, sharing dishes, and building relationships. It was then that Adam realized he didn’t want to just enjoy hospitality, he wanted to be part of it. He took the leap in 2013, trading major oil and gas accounts for expo shifts at The Next Act Pub in Edmonton, and right away, he was hooked.
Adam built his career in Vancouver at beloved spots like Nook, Autostrada, Homer St. Cafe, and Fred’s before joining Elio Volpe as part of the opening team in 2024, where his instinctual drive to foster community with guests and team members alike helped shape Elio into the warm, joy-filled room it is today. His promotion to Service Director is a natural evolution, reflective of the leadership, heart, and hospitality he’s brought to every step of his career.
“This is a role we’ve dreamed up for years, dedicated entirely to the heartbeat of our company: hospitality,” says Paul Grunberg, co-founder of Banda Volpi. “With Adam as our first-ever Service Director, we’re thrilled to bring a new level of magic to the Banda experience, ensuring that supreme hospitality is not only delivered but deeply felt, reinforced, trained, and remembered company-wide.”
In his new role, Adam will carry forward the values Paul and the group have built on, sharing his enthusiasm, optimism, and contagious commitment to the art of service across each Banda Volpi restaurant. When he’s not creating unparalleled guest experiences, you’ll likely find him cycling, running, or sharing a slice of Elio’s brunch pizza – his undisputed favourite dish at any Banda spot.
