New Two-Toned Chocolate Bar Drops Today From Beta5 and Superbaba

Vancouver, BC | BETA5 and Middle Eastern food destination Superbaba have been working on a top secret chocolate bar together. Named THE SUPERHALVA, it is part of BETA5’s 2020 chef collaboration series and features 46 per cent milk chocolate, corn flakes, flaked salt and halva – a popular Middle Eastern sesame confection.

“We worked with Dallah and the talented Superbaba team last summer for an ice cream social and The Superhalva chocolate bar came so naturally,” explains Adam Chandler, co-owner and pastry chef of BETA5. “There are so many incredible Middle Eastern flavours and halva is one of our favourites.”

The Superhalva chocolate bar is uniquely two-toned – milk on one side and white on the other. To create this effect, Chandler used muscovado sugar to reference the brown sugar flavours in a chocolate chip cookie dough. Crumbled halva is sandwiched between the two layers.

“We used the flavours of a Superbaba cookie to create a chocolate bar you’d want to eat all at once,” says Dallah (full name Abdallah El Chami), co-owner of Superbaba.

The Superhalva is $11 and available now until March 15, 2020, exclusively at BETA5 (409 Industrial Ave), the Superbaba food truck (555 Burrard Street), and Café Medina (780 Richards Street).
