The Goods from JJ Bean
Vancouver, BC | Founded in East Vancouver, JJ Bean recently opened its first café south of the city in the Fraser River “Big Bend” area of South Burnaby, at 101 – 8288 North Fraser Way. Filling a need for amazing coffee and fresh baking in this predominantly industrial area, this location also acts as the coffee roasters’ commissary and retail headquarters.
JJ Big Bend doesn’t currently have seating in-store due to zoning restrictions, but you can find JJ’s famous specialty coffee, freshly baked delicacies, and house made meal offerings to-go.
Doors opened March 4, with Grand Opening celebrations running from March 18-22, including $2 traditional drinks on Monday, 50% off baked goods with coffee purchase on Tuesday, 50% off sandwiches and wraps on Wednesday, and fan-favourite 30% bonus gift card top-up running Thursday through Friday due to popular demand.
“In 1996 our family lived out the dream to form a company that would bring fresh roasted coffee to East Van coffee lovers,” says founder John Neate Jr., “and the next phase was to have a facility that would enable fresh baked goods to be produced daily in all of our locations.” A proud feature of the space, customers can see this production in action through a large window behind the espresso bar.
This is the twentieth JJ Bean café to open in the GVA, and it offers seasonal single-origin coffees and signature blends on French press and drip-filter options, as well as a host of classic espresso-based beverages. Coffee is roasted to order each day in Vancouver & Toronto, and each café makes its food offerings fresh every morning.
About JJ Bean | The Neate family has been roasting coffee for four generations. Established in 1996 by John Neate Jr., JJ Bean Coffee Roasters exists to honour people through great coffee, service, food, and spaces. Family-operated to this day, JJ Bean now has 20 locations in the Greater Vancouver Area and four in the Greater Toronto Area, with a fifth on the way this spring.
