The First Taste Of The New Brunch Service At “La Mezcaleria” On Commercial Dr.

As you can see, La Mezcaleria on Commercial Drive received the most votes (ahead of The Acorn, which will incidentally also plate a brunch service this summer), so they’re going ahead with their first proper brunch/lunch service starting next week, running Tuesday through Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Co-owner Ignacio Arrieta says the poll surprised him and his partners. “We hadn’t considered it before the poll came out, but we looked at it and decided to give it a try.”

Yesterday was their first taste test with friends and family in the closed restaurant. Since we had a hand in planting the seed, we were invited along. Every item we tried was superb, especially the salsa cascabel-topped chilaquiles and the tequila/citrus cured salmon eggs benedict with chimichurri hashbrowns. To drink, we sipped from micheladas, pina-avocado smoothies, and freshly squeezed OJ.

They might do a soft opening (the date of which is unknown to me), but starting June 23rd the new service will be open to the public for sure. Take a look…
