Chupito Brings Iconic Shipping Container & Backyard Patio Experience to Mount Pleasant

The Goods from Chupito Cocteleria

Vancouver, BC | Five years after first capturing Vancouver’s heart, Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Chupito Cocteleria is bringing the iconic yellow shipping container to their new home in Mount Pleasant this Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The beloved shipping container, once the centerpiece of Chupito’s hidden Gastown patio, will once again welcome guests into a vibrant backyard setting tucked behind the restaurant at 2450 Yukon Street. More than just a physical structure, the container represents a defining chapter in Chupito’s story and the return of the intimate, come-as-you-are atmosphere that helped establish its reputation as one of the city’s most distinctive experiences – a welcoming neighbourhood gathering place inspired by the hospitality, and community spirit found throughout Mexico.

For the season, Tara Davies and Erick Vazquez have created a highball-forward, low-waste cocktail menu designed for long summer afternoons and evenings. Highlights include the Piña y Coco, featuring a carbonated rum blend, Palo Cortado sherry, pineapple, coconut, lime, and ginger; the Manzanilla, made with carbonated Dolin Blanc, Manzanilla and mango pit cordial. The beverage program is complemented by a curated selection of low-intervention wines, beer, and rotating alcoholic and non-alcoholic popsicles served as a complimentary ‘chupito’ to welcome every guest.

On the culinary side, Executive Chef Maria Ponce draws inspiration from Mexico’s coastal regions with a seafood-forward menu centered around the raw bar – selection of tostadas, including Tostada de Atún, Tostada de Pulpo, and Tostada de Aguachile, alongside a Plato de Mariscos, freshly shucked oysters with salsa marisquera, and other seasonal offerings. As well as offerings from the grill that include Pollo Asado and Pescado a la Talla.

To further embrace the spirit of a traditional Mexican backyard gathering, Chef Ponce will also feature Carne Asada every weekend, bringing the unmistakable aromas and convivial energy of a Mexican family barbecue to the heart of Mount Pleasant.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome our yellow shipping container to its new home in Mount Pleasant,” said Tara Davies and Erick Vazquez. “It has been part of our story from the very beginning and represents so much of who we are. Bringing it back feels like the perfect way to celebrate our fifth anniversary.”

“More importantly, we’re excited to share that sense of genuine Mexican hospitality with our neighbours,” added Davies. “Some of our fondest memories revolve around gathering around a grill with friends and family, and nothing captures that feeling better than a weekend carne asada in the backyard.”

Located behind 2450 Yukon Street, Chupito’s backyard patio will operate Wednesday through Friday from 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m., beginning June 20. Like the original Chupito patio, seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and is weather dependent.
