Sleeve | Phenomenon | When you order a pint in Vancouver, more often than not you are given a sleeve. Until recently, 20oz pints were illegal here, resulting in a glass of beer anywhere between 12 and 18oz (there is no standardization of a sleeve). “It is a term invented by the hospitality industry to decrease serving sizes and increase profits” – BC Beer Blog. Unfortunately, there’s no enforcement on glass size so the practice of serving sleeves in lieu of pints continues unabated.
Usage: “Argh! You call this a pint? It’s a fucking sleeve!”
