#42: Passing off illegal donations as a clerical error – after they were caught: BC Liberals to return $93,000 in ‘prohibited’ indirect donations. Who wants to bet there is an “October surprise” revelation by the RCMP one week before the May election exonerating the BC Liberals?

#43: Former B.C. children’s watchdog Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond sues province for pension.

It cites as examples the fact that Children’s Minister Stephanie Cadieux refused to meet with Ms. Turpel-Lafond in the final 12 months of her role as RCY; that she was told the government would treat her as a “member of the opposition”; and that the government had developed a strategy to personally target Ms. Turpel-Lafond’s work.

When many lower-income Americans are feeling isolated by the deadening uniformity of things, by the emptiness of many jobs, by the media, they still yearn for physical social networks. They are not doing this by going to government-run community service centers. They are not always doing this by utilizing the endless array of well-intentioned not-for-profit outreach programs. They are doing this on their own, organically across the country, in McDonald’s.

Fearmongers of the day: Vancouver Aquarium cetacean ban could mean animals will have to be euthanized: DFO. At what point does the Vancouver Aquarium’s logic go from “we can no longer display whales and dolphins to the public to make money” to “we now have to kill every injured animal we come across because if we can’t display them it also means we can no longer rescue animals, rehabilitate them in temporary captivity, then release them”?
