Such was the case with Jon Danielsen Aarhus, who built this pine-clad, view-heavy getaway cabin for his family at the foot of the Hardangervidda, a massive mountain plateau in the middle of Norway’s version of nowhere. We’d take ours, complete with equally dramatic glass frontage and sloping ceiling, above the Sea To Sky village of Lion’s Bay, where it could overlook the eastern shore of Howe Sound.
