With our city now so laughably unaffordable, thousands of Vancouverites are stuck imagining wonderful homes instead of living in them. “Spaced” is a record of our minds wandering the world of architecture and design, up and away from the unrewarding realities of shoebox condos, dark basement suites, and sweet fuck all on Craigslist.

(via) This remote vacation home near Inverness on Cape Breton Island was designed by Halifax-based architect Omar Gandhi for city folk seeking for a getaway. Situated on a high bluff, the gorgeous, isolated residence – dubbed ‘Lookout at Broad Cove Marsh’ – features floor to ceiling windows that look southwest out to sea (towards Prince Edward Island and the Nova Scotia mainland), an 18 ft. long kitchen island for prep and dining, and a series of boxy bedrooms that pop out from the low profile structure. We’d take ours (with hot Earl Grey and some Schubert) similarly positioned on this side of the country, preferably on the Cowichan Valley coast facing southeast instead of southwest (towards Salt Spring Island and the BC mainland).
