With our city now so laughably unaffordable, thousands of Vancouverites are stuck imagining wonderful homes instead of living in them. “Spaced” is a record of our minds wandering the world of architecture and design, up and away from the unrewarding realities of shoebox condos, dark basement suites, and sweet fuck all on Craigslist.

(via) Have you ever had one of those mornings when you wake up to find it raining just as hard as it was the three mornings previous and the first thought of the day is just, “Fuck”? Of course you have. You’re in Vancouver. We reckon the repeated blows are would be softened if they’re suffered in comfort on the waterfront. Rain or shine, it’s pretty damn awesome to wake up to sand and surf, which is why we looked at the Avalon House in New South Wales this morning and sighed. Designed by Australian architecture firm ArhciBlox, the 1150 sqft modular two bedroom house is pre-fabbed off site in just six weeks. Drop it where you want, sow your green roof, and enjoy that bath! We’d take ours on Savary, Thetis, or really any of the more remote Gulf Islands.
