With the recent opening of our new Four Winds Beach House & Brewery in Tsawwassen, we’re extending our passion for quality and craftsmanship to the culinary field. Located in the vibrant and growing Southlands community, our restaurant aims to create unforgettable dining experiences that complement our diverse beer selection. We are currently seeking passionate and creative Sous Chefs to help lead our kitchen team and collaborate closely with the Chef de Cuisine in developing our culinary program. The menu is based on beerhall tradition with influences from the surrounding land and sea, using local fresh ingredients.

Position: Sous Chef

Location: Southlands Restaurant and Brewery, Four Winds Brewing

Job Type: Full-time – Salaried Position

Direct Reports: Line Cooks, Prep Cooks and Dishwashers

Responsibilities:
● Supporting the Chef de Cuisine: Assist in leading the kitchen operations, including planning and directing food preparation. Act as the Chef de Cuisine in their absence.
● Team Leadership and Training: Participate in the training and development of kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality and techniques are maintained.
● Menu Development: Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef in menu creation and seasonal updates. Help maintain a creative and innovative menu that complements our beer offerings.
● Kitchen Operations: Ensure kitchen operations run smoothly, maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization.
● Inventory and Procurement: Assist in managing kitchen inventory and liaise with suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of quality ingredients.

Requirements:
● Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Line Cook, or similar role in a respected restaurant or gastropub.
● Culinary school degree or equivalent professional training is preferred.
● Strong leadership skills, capable of inspiring and motivating a team.
● Excellent cooking skills with an eye for detail in food presentation.
● Knowledge of best practices in kitchen management and food safety.
● Flexibility with working hours, including availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays.
