New “Gastropub” Planned For Woodwards FlatIron Building

IMG_6949

This is interesting. The Adelphia Group (think the Dover Arms pub and  both the Caprice and Celebrities nightclubs) is applying to the City to open a 150 seat liquor primary “gastropub” on the ground floor of the W43 “Flatiron” tower in the new Woodwards development (142-148 West Cordova).

Open from 10am to 2am daily, the “gastropub” (UPDATE: it’s called “The Charles Bar”) concept “is based on the commitment to quality food. Our food menu will be a focus for us and our food service will match the quality of our beverage service. Quality food service will be available during our entire opening hours.” Did you get that, folks? Food food quality quality, and then more food. Though they had wanted to be pouring in time for the Olympics, they’re now hoping for June. See an artist’s rendering of the proposed 50 seat patio from the promotional materials after the leap…

  1. I wonder if the good folks planning this adventure have ever driven through that neighbourhood @ 02:00 hrs?

Because I do sometime for work and Dickensian doesn’t begin to describe the horrors that haunt the streets.

Maybe they could call the place Under Siege or Meat Circus or Tweaker’s Ménage.

    Just sayin’…………..

  2. Wow 2 am… looking forward to that. Still antsy about how the Woodward is going to change up the hood… an establishment like this can go both ways in terms of the vibe and crowd it draws. Fingers crossed.

  3. ” The Adelphia Group (think the Dover Arms pub and both the Caprice and Celebrities nightclubs) ”

Obviously a quailty focused, details driven establishment with individuality in spades there then.

Good on you Morrison for turning me on to this one.

    Can`t fucking wait.

  4. So good for the area!!

Can’t wait for the pub to open!!

I hear the Adelphia group has done wonders for Tinseltown with their opening of Pivo.

I wish them the best of luck

  5. Stopped in for some drinks and food last weekend, atmosphere was good as well as the beer, but the food was pathetic! The descriptions on the menu of the food sounded much better than it actually tasted. 70 $ for 4 beers and 3 lame appetizers
