Four of BC’s top chefs are set to cook up a weekend to remember with a very special Kitchen Party on Galiano Island. Pack your bags and hop on the ferry for first rate feasting May 27-29 courtesy of chefs David Gunawan (Farmer’s Apprentice), Nico Schuermans (Chambar), Jesse McCleery (Pilgrimme) and Josh Blumenthal (Elementa). Each of the talented toques is well known for revering hyper-local ingredients, so you can expect dishes that will convey a delicious sense of place – and what a place it is!
If you’ve never been before, Bodega Ridge is a 22 acre getaway owned and operated by a really down to earth guy named Jesse Keefer. Close to the ocean and surrounded by fantastic hiking trails, the property is peppered with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom log cabins that are just the right amount of rustic. Simple and comfortable with all of the amenities (fireplace, bathtub, kitchen, etc.) Bodega is a rewarding place to run away to at any point of the year, but this coming weekend – rewards jump to a new level because Jesse is throwing a Kitchen Party.
When Newfoundlanders throw a “kitchen party” they expect drinkers and carousers crowding around a wood stove or step dancing across the floor as a few musicians sit in a corner trading songs. Bodega wanted to bring this spirit to the resort for a weekend as a special shout out to a much-loved past employee – Tiffany – who has been battling cancer at home in Newfoundland. All proceeds from the weekend will be heading east to help make things easier for her.
In addition to amazing food prepared by a some A-list talent, attendees can also expect a live auction run by Senator Larry Campbell, live music, and lots of booze at night, as well as a waffle breakfast (supplied by Medina) plus plenty of opportunities for guided hikes and yoga during the day. We’ve been to Bodega Ridge on several occasions over the years, and have attached a gallery of images for context.
