Bar Susu Says ‘Farewell’ to Mount Pleasant

Vancouver, BC | After an unforgettable three year run, Boxset Collective is officially bidding Bar Susu adieu on May 30, 2025. The beloved Mount Pleasant natural wine bar and late-night spot will celebrate its final weeks with a special series of throwback dishes, bottle highlights, cocktails and events to pay tribute to the many chapters of Susu’s story.

Since opening as a temporary pop-up in 2022, Bar Susu has grown into one of Vancouver’s most creatively driven hospitality spaces – a destination for great small plates, playful drinks, and late night get togethers. During its short tenure, it won several accolades, including Gold for Best New Restaurant in the 2022 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and landing on the inaugural Michelin Guide Vancouver recommended list.

“Bar Susu has always been a bit of a shape-shifter,” says Cody Allmin, co-founder of Boxset Collective, the team behind Published on Main, El Gato Gab Gab, Mama Said Pizza Co., and Twin Sails Brewing. “We’ve adapted through a pandemic, a fire, a relocation, and an economic rollercoaster. What’s remained constant is the creativity, the care, and the community that formed within its walls.”

To mark its final service period, Bar Susu will be bringing back a rotating list of some of its most iconic dishes and drinks from the past few years, including crowd favourites, such as versions of the Honey Cruller, Sablefish with Tom Kha Sauce, Crispy Cheese Bites, and Dinosaur Kale Salad, plus several other sleeper hits from past menus.

Bar Susu will operate Tuesday through Saturday from now until its closing night on May 30, 2025. Guests are encouraged to make reservations early to experience one last visit, or several, before the final toast.

“We’re immensely proud of everything this team has brought to life, and thank everyone for their support over the past three years,” adds Allmin.
