An Early Summer Night’s Tomato Dream At ‘The Acorn’

IMG_4676

by Andrew Morrison | It’s raining as I write this, but I can still taste the summer of last night’s dinner in the open window at The Acorn on Main Street. The thing that stuck with me most of all from the new menu was the warm gem tomato tart. The bright little orbs were long marinated in olive oil and sugar, halved and set to stud a creamy, aromatic basil and macadamia nut cheese dressed with preserved Meyer lemon and fresh greens from Glorious Organics. The delicious lot was beautifully composed inside a fork-tender tart shell made of almonds and hazelnuts, confirming it altogether as the most delicious thing I’ve eaten since the season kicked off.
