Juicy Pollo Anticuchos At Mt. Pleasant’s Peruvian Chicha

While the ceviches are definitely where it’s at at the Peruvian-themed Chicha eatery on West Broadway (made a la minute and ridiculously tasty), we’ve been on a chicken kick of late (it all started with a karaage frenzy at Ramen Gojiro) so – in addition to the classic ceviche – we ordered the Pollo Anticuchos. It’s their tapas take on a pre-Columbian Quechuan staple that has since become a popular street food across Peru. At Chicha, the skewered pieces of tender chicken arrive with three brightly coloured (and individually delicious) dipping sauces. We’ve borrowed the photo above from their website for reference: the orange one is an impactful rocoto chili aioli; the yellow one is a mellower aji amarillo chili aioli; and the green one is dreamily herbaceous, made with Huacatay (an Andean black mint). Finger licking awesome. Have yours with a Pisco Sour, natch.
