A Map to Vancouver’s 12 Cocktails of December

Tis the season for giving and the local cocktail community is getting in the holiday spirit. In partnership with a dozen local bars, Bacardi Canada is launching their inaugural holiday fundraiser, The 12 Cocktails of December.

The participating bars were asked to create a holiday cocktail with a portion of the proceeds from each sale going to the charity of their choice. Here’s where you can drink for a good cause this month…

AnnaLena
1809 West 1st Ave.

In support of the Canucks Autism Network, Annalena will be serving up their Butter Buck featuring aged tequila, Cynar, butter, honey and horchata served warm and garnished with a touch of tonka bean.

Ballyhoo
103-888 Burrard St.

A combination of rum, ginger, honey and lemon make Ballyhoo’s Midnight Cowboy the perfect sipper for these cold December evenings. The bar team will be shaking up their cocktail in support of the annual Donnelly Toy Drive.

The Cascade Room
2616 Main St.

Cascade room is keeping it holiday-classic and stirring up JT’s Hot Buttered Rum for the month of December. The folks at Cascade will be supporting The Fawkes Academy which provides individualized education programs for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.

Chambar
568 Beatty St.

Chambar’s house G&T has long been a favourite on the menu. With the addition of yuzu and elderflower, the bright and citrusy cocktail will be on offer all month in support of RainCity Housing.

Como Taperia
209 East 7th Avenue

Combining seasonal flavours such as quince and cinnamon with not one but two kinds of rum, Como’s Quincessential promises to be a holiday hit. The bar team will be shaking them up all month in support of Kids Sport Canada which provides financial assistance for registration and equipment for kids under 18.

The Blackbird
905 Dunsmuir St.

The bar team at Blackbird have created a holiday riff on a classic sour featuring Irish whiskey, lemon and a cranberry-rosemary syrup. The Sour Holiday will be on offer throughout December in support of the annual Donnelly Toy Drive.

The Diamond
6 Powell St.

The Diamond’s Venezuelan Old Fashioned is a play on the original featuring rum, orange and cacao spiced bitters. Stirred to perfection, this riff will be served at the bar all month in support of A Better Life Foundation. The organization works to increase food security for women and children fleeing violence, street entrenched youth and folks living below the poverty line.

Keefer Bar
135 Keefer St

Keefer’s Boss Lady is a play on a classic fizz featuring tequila, mandarin shrub, aperol and garnished with spiced persimmon for an extra holiday kick. Order one in support of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre which provides meals, counseling, advocacy and programs for women who live and/or work in the Downtown Eastside.

L'Abattoir
2178 Carrall St.

Head over to L’Abattoir to enjoy their Las Posadas featuring tequila, Grand Marnier, lemon and mulled wine syrup. The sour riff is garnished with rosemary dust and will be served in support of the BC Hospitality Foundation. The organization raises funds to support those in the hospitality industry facing financial crisis due to a health condition.

Pourhouse
162 Water Street, Vancouver BC

No holiday cocktail list is complete without an eggnog and Pourhouse has got you covered. A combination of Irish whiskey, sherry and old fashioned bitters brings out the nuttiness in this cold weather classic. Enjoy one in support of St. James Music Academy which provides classical music education to at-risk youth.

Royal Dinette
905 Dunsmuir St.

Head on over to Royal Dinette to enjoy an aptly named Holiday Hooch. Gin, aperol, grapefruit soju, Galliano and chamomile tea combine to create a unique cocktail worthy of its name. The team will be mixing up the hooch all month in support of QMUNITY which works to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives.

Tocador
2610 Main St.

It may be a simple, four ingredient recipe but Tocador’s Ron Corteza delivers a great deal of complexity in a coupe. Sip on this rum-based cocktail during the month of December in support of Backpack Buddies which fills the weekend hunger gap for children in Metro Vancouver.
