by Sean Orr | Remember folks, it’s not terrorism when it’s a white supremacist doing it: Alleged Halifax mass shooting plot ‘not culturally based’ say police. They clearly didn’t check out the Tumblr page belonging to one of the suspects, which is full of non-cultural, non-ideological images of Nazis and David Duke.

But it totally is terrorism when environmentalists are involved: 9 weirdest things about this RCMP intelligence report on the “anti-petroleum movement”.

The RCMP report dated January 2014 warns of “a growing, highly organized and well-financed anti-Canada petroleum movement that consists of peaceful activists, militants and violent extremists who are opposed to society’s reliance on fossil fuels.”

But are they well financed because they didn’t have any oil stocks in their portfolio?

But what really is terrorism, anyway? Peter MacKay skirts debate on definition of terrorism: ‘Look it up’.

Tweet of the day regarding Sun News:

Emphasis on bitter: The Bitter Twilight of Social Democracy: NDP, unions and enviro NGOs back transit referendum. Wherein the “progressive left” align themselves with free market astro-turfers… “So the social democrats are really talking about mobilizing working class people to fight for the increased funding of an institution that has, for almost two decades, been completely hostile to our interests.” Yes, but, if you’re fighting to punish that institution, a “no” won’t accomplish that. Dummies.

Can the TransLink board be fired? You can’t fire someone who isn’t actually working. Right, Kramer?

Premier Clark on Translink – Oblivious or Devious? “You know the province has made a major contribution to this and I think we’ve really done what we can. Translink belongs to the mayors, and only the mayors. If there are problems that need to be addressed in Translink, can fix those, fix those problems because it’s not a provincially run organization.” Just… fucking…wow.

Mutant-free neighbourhood: North Van petition says deaf, disabled, transgender people would negatively affect neighbourhood. But I thought we all had to read The Chrysalids in high school?

Individuals not conforming to a strict physical norm are either killed or sterilised and banished to the Fringes, a lawless and untamed area still rife with animal and plant mutations…

The Fringes is totally the Downtown Eastside, btw.

Next Time Someone Says ‘Canada’s Not Racist,’ Show Them This Video. Ooh, ooh! I have one, too: “In Vancouver, West Vancouver and Victoria, owners tried to use restrictive land covenants to keep minorities from buying land — and many of those covenants remain in place to this day…”

Yale Hotel sale may be death knell for blues in Vancouver. Guess I’ll have to add it to The List.
