by Sean Orr | I like your last name, Ron Orr, and I respect that you’re the head of a booze group. I also agree with you about Sunday openings, but you are way off about ‘Untouchable’ youths a problem for liquor establishments. I mean, maybe if you and your buddies weren’t bombarding them with advertising at every single sports event; if we didn’t have archaic attitudes towards alcohol; and if they weren’t, you know, fucking kids with absolutely nothing else to do (because all the other fun stuff illegal)…
Leading us to the tweet of the day c/o of the VPD: Do you want to save $230 tonight? #VPD will be enforcing liquor laws @celeboflight & issuing tickets. Leave the booze at home & save your $.
Runner up c/o of Pete McMartin: Poll shows half of BCers could be swayed re Northern Gateway if pipeline carries olive oil.
Pertaining to this poll: 59% of Metro Vancouver residents oppose Northern Gateway pipeline to some degree. What is more telling perhaps, is that only 7% of the province is in favour completely.
I wear a toque all year long: First-annual Foreskin Pride March planned in Vancouver. I don’t know if that’s something I want to advertise. Oh shit, I guess I just did.
Proud: Canucks’ Manny Malhotra to participate in Vancouver Pride Parade. “It’s not the Stanley Cup parade the Vancouver Canucks so desperately want to be part of”. Oh, you just had to rub it in. Like oil. Like hot oil on a bristling six-pack of abs on a guy you just met from Ecuador…
Canucks owners gamble on new office district in Vancouver. Let’s hope this isn’t one of those Barry Pederson types of gambles the Canucks are famous for making.
Maybe it’s time to stop letting cars ruin it: Gastown’s cobblestones turning into asphalt patchwork . While you’re at it, any plans to prevent Gastown from sliding into the ocean?
Also, Gastown is a myth, as Miss 604 notes: “Before you gasp in disbelief as City crews patch potholes on Water Street with asphalt, covering and replacing what look like historic cobblestone bricks, you should know that they are actually a product of the disco era”.
Bonus: Is this the future of the Sears building? Wow. That actually looks pretty nice.
