Tea & Two Slices: On Mega Casinos And Introducing Christy Clark’s Right Hand Man

by Sean Orr | British Columbians most sympathetic towards the poor. “It found British Columbians are the least expected to buy into the idea that all you need to do to is “get off the street and dust yourself off.” Wow, even in spite of The Fraser Institute’s quasi-fascist Social Darwinist streak? Or maybe it’s because we can actually see poor people…

Meanwhile, according to City Caucus: housing activists were only ‘in it’ to discredit the now discredited NPA.

Meet Christy Clark’s Hard Right Advisor. Hello, nice to meet you. I’m Sean Orr. I’ll be making pithy comments, Tea Party jokes and generally doing my best to insure your Neo-con agenda is exposed and ridiculed. Also, I will wash your dishes if you want me to…

Blah, blah blah mega casino blah blah blah.

Politicians who reject science are not fit to lead. And just like that, David Suzuki is relevant again.

Green Party’s attack ad on attack ads. Still waiting for the attack ad on anti-attack ads. Meta!

Apparently, Metro Vancouver looks like Bart Simpson.

  1. The use of the term ‘neo-con’ to describe Christy Clark is a misnomer. The term was coined to describe the Foreign Policy ambitions of Wolfowitz etc. around the time of GWB’s first term. There is nothing ‘neo’ about Christy’s con.

  2. Psst, Jimmy. Sean was talking about her Right Hand Man (follow the link), who is about as Liberal as Paul Wolfowitz, etc.

  3. Re. Suzuki. I know, I was being sarcastic. He’s one of the top Canadians ever. It sort of seems like the same message over and over, but that this piece was way more political than usual is what I was referring to. I just wanted to give more weight to that particular article….

ok, I’ll split hairs. Neo-con refers to an ideology that is all about “democratization”. What we see here is good, old-fashioned laissez faire conservatism, with a healthy dollop of globalization. The use of the term ‘neo-con’, in this case is a misnomer. (Although, to be fair, If you asked him, I am sure Mr. Morgan might endorse the ‘neo-con’ agenda, with his connection to the energy industry).

It’s just me I’m afraid, I get annoyed by the rampant overuse of ‘neo’ as a prefix to political terms. (don’t get me started on ‘resilience – y’)

Good point. Much more common to bypass or not come close to places like everywhere from Winnipeg’s North End to SF”s Tenderloin, etc on a daily basis than the common Vancouver travels within and throughout the DTES.
