Frank & Dom Morra, the brothers behind Via Tevere and Straight Outta Brooklyn pizzerias, are opening the third location of the latter in Chinatown this Spring. They took possession of the 500 sqft space at 648 Main Street (at East Georgia) just yesterday and are about to get to work transforming it into an operation that will offer 8 different New York City style pies with four always by the slice using a double stack oven that can do a dozen pizzas at a time. The launch of the new 15 seater will also herald the start of delivery service for the company, which has yet to play that particular game. I’m a big fan of what these guys do at both Via Tevere and S.O.B. so I see this as a solid win for the neighbourhood. The address’ previous tenant, A-20 Pizza, never really managed to cross the edibility threshold so anticipation/expectation of improvement goes without saying.

Not to split hairs but do these guys actually have any connection to Brooklyn?
It’s not a physical connection. The nomenclature isolates/identifies the product in the pizza realm as being a regionally specific style, in this case Brooklyn, which is where the best New York-style slices can be had in all the boroughs (see also “Neapolitan”, “Roman”, “Chicago”, et cetera). It basically means you can expect big, foldable slices on thin crust.
