Eating Pork Belly Bao Buns & Sipping Cheap Margaritas At Pidgin On Carrall

porkbellybao3

by Shaun Layton | Though we have an incredible cocktail culture in this city, it still pales in comparison to the great drinking cities of the world, places like San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans, and London). Happy Hour just might be the kick in the ass it needs, and now that it’s legal, it’s time to detail what’s out there. This is where we start…

Pidgin | 350 Carrall St. | 604-620-9400 | 5pm-6:30pm, 10:30-late | www.pidginvancouver.com

Drink | Tall cans of Tiger beer: $5. Wine: $6. Classic cocktails: $6.50. Bonus: Japanese whiskey and sake flights.

Eat | Yakitori: $4. Bao Buns: $5 (try the pork belly with peanuts, cilantro, and Sriracha aioli).

I love sitting in the bar at Pidgin, particularly late at night. As it’s one of very few local establishments to offer a late night Happy Hour (in addition to the traditional late afternoon Happy Hour), this works out great for me. The deal on classic cocktails alone is ridiculously good. Go for a classic Margarita and a pork belly bao bun. All you Gastown industry folks, this one is tough to pass up. See you there!
