by Andrew Morrison | I was positively floored yesterday by the beauty of the Craig Stanghetta-designed Revolver. It’s a coffee fetishist’s wet dream set to open later this week at 325 Cambie across from Meat & Bread. The space sees some 20-25 seats that look to be suspended from a high ceiling along a wall decorated with world maps made by hand (great job Ricky) using steel and copper-coloured nails (the coffee denoted coffee-producing lands). Customers will be able to leaf through a curated selection of books by American greats (think Hemingway, Fitzgerald, etc), listen to great vinyl, work wirelessly and sip coffees made by a family that takes it so seriously that it flies into the star-lit blackness beyond the nerdisphere.

It’s owned by Tarry and Kristine Gianniakos of Crema in West Vancouver (15th & Bellevue) and will be run by their four coffee-addicted sons: George, John, Chris and Matt. The boys are well versed in the trade and clearly love what they do. After selecting from 3 to 6 beans (selected by the brothers every week by blind tasting), customers will be able to choose from one of five brewing methods: default steel filter; clever; aeropress; siphon (hoorah for live flames!) or good ‘ol French press. They’re serious about espresso, too (they have a lovely Mirage machine from Holland), and tea as well (temperature controlled and meticulously measured). As far as nibbles are concerned, they’re restricting themselves to baked goods made fresh daily and coffee-friendly candies and nuts. Be sure to check it out over the weekend!
