A long time ago we posted a reader’s poll listing what we considered to be the top five restaurant tables in Vancouver. We received so much in the way of reader feedback – both positive and negative that we’ve decided to shine a brighter light on the subject, one excellent table at a time. You’ll find more great tables here.

by Andrew Morrison | It’s another noodle-appropriate day in Vancouver, which is to say that many of you are thinking ramen. According to Scout readers, some of the best can be had at The Ramen Butcher in Chinatown. They don’t take reservations, so you never really know what sort of table you’re going to get. They have a variety of options too, everything from a pair of corner three-tops and two communal high-tops to bar stools and typical deuces. But there is only one booth, Table #23, and it is the most desirable seat in the house.
Not only is #23 a window table that soaks up all the natural light this block of East Georgia St. can muster, but with vinyl-covered bench cushioning it’s also a lot more comfortable than all of the other options in the room. Again, scoring it is totally the luck of the draw, but if you ever do get this table you’ll never want to sit anywhere else in the restaurant ever again.
Pro tip: if #23 is not available, check to see if the window table on the other side (#20) is. It’s smaller (for two) and sees chairs instead of a soft bench, but it’s still a sequestered window table, really its own little world.
