Via Tevere Crew Opening Plant-Based Pizzeria on Main Street This Winter

The team that gave us Victoria Drive’s popular Via Tevere Pizzeria Napoletana have taken over the Don’t Argue Pizzeria location at 3240 Main Street. They’re set to take possession after the five year old Don’t Argue closed over the Labour Day weekend. We talked to Via Tevere co-owner Dom Morra and found out what’s coming next…

The plan, Dom says, is for new a plant-based pizza concept. Though meatless, the as-yet-unnamed project (update: it’s called Grano) will nevertheless follow the Neapolitan style, which is to say they’ll be using ’00’ flour and San Marzano tomatoes, but not before installing their new wood-fired oven (replacing Don’t Argue’s New York-style, gas-fired deck).

This time around, Dom and his brother Frank – who are also working on opening another pizzeria called Tratto in Penticton – have partnered with Lindsay Wood, who will be the face of the concept. Diners might recognize the registered nutritionist and PICA grad (who took her Vera Pizza Napoletana pizza-making course over the summer) from her management role at Glory Juice Co. or working front of house at Heirloom Vegetarian.

The menu will see about a dozen pies, all plant-based, plus salads and a variety of other veggie sides. The 1,000 sqft, 34 seat operation will be licensed (beer, wine, Italian cocktails) and likely ready for launch just before Christmas. For those unfamiliar with Via Tevere, take a look…

  1. Here’s hoping they keep superflux on the beer list. Was always an added bonus to stopping in at Don’t Argue.

  2. Wtf plant based? Don’t Argue was a great pizza joint. Now with Browns opening next door I will avoid that strip and the new spot unless they have real cheese.

  3. Agreed, plant based is really the wrong idea. Please Via Tevere, stick to what you’re great at. Main St is already starting to drown in plant based mediocrity and the last thing we need. Rethink while you can and avoid a quick fail.

  4. it’s awesome to see meat eaters as whiny and self important as vegans…..
