A Look Inside ‘Farina a Legna’ — Coming Soon to North Van

Angela Dean (General Manager), Jeffrey Tang (Chef de Cuisine), Alessandro Vianello (Executive Chef)

Some good news for North Vancouver. Kitchen Table Restaurants, the group that operates Ask For Luigi, Pourhouse, diBeppe and Pizzeria Farina, are opening a new wood-fired pizza restaurant together with the Giannakos family (Revolver Coffee). It will be called Farina a Legna.

The new restaurant will be located at 119 2nd Street East and launch before the summer is through. It will see some 50 seats (including a kitchen bar) and a large kitchen that will double as a commissary for Kitchen Table’s other restaurants. The style of pizza won’t be  the same as Pizzeria Farina, which makes gas-fired pies. From what I understand they’re looking more to Chris Bianco’s critically acclaimed Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, AZ for inspiration.

Here are some supplied notes as well as some construction shots…

Located in the heart of North Van’s burgeoning Lower Lonsdale district in the former site of Il Castello Pizzeria, Farina a Legna (Italian for ‘flour on wood’) will offer a full-service pizzeria with seating for 50 in a bright and spacious dining room.

Long beloved for its take on authentic, Napoletana-style pizza, a Legna will migrate many of the Main Street favourites to the new location while also offering an expanded menu of antipasti, insalate, pastas and desserts for dine-in and take-out. At the bar, a Legna will feature local craft beer and Prosecco on tap, an all-Italian wine list, selection of amaro and grappa, and house-made bottled cocktails.

Farina Pizza a Legna is a partnership between the Giannakos Family of Revolver Coffee and the Kitchen Table Restaurants hospitality group that also owns and operates the original Pizzeria Farina, cocktail-and-comfort-food hotspot Pourhouse, caffé-by-day, ristorante-by-night Di Beppe, and casual Italian eatery Ask For Luigi.

The a Legna team will be led by a trio of industry veterans and Kitchen Table all-stars, with Alessandro Vianello (Pourhouse) and Jeffrey Tang of the original Pizzeria Farina location leading the back of house as Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine, respectively, while Angela Dean (Ask For Luigi) will oversee front-of-house operations as General Manager.

They’re hiring for all positions right now, so if you’re looking for work email nv [at] pizzeriafarina.com with your resume.

Designing the look and feel of the room will be long-time collaborators Ste. Marie Art + Design and Grasfurd & Walker. Take a look at what they’re working with…
