We Want To Try The Brand New Collaborative Brew from Vij’s and Parkside Brewery

Vij’s bar manager Jay Jones and the good folks at The Parkside Brewery have collaborated on a beer that we are really looking forward to getting to know. It’s a new India White Ale that Jones describes as an “easy-drinking dry-hopped white ale with Indian spices and orange peel.” He recently gave notice of its coming in an email I’ve excerpted below:

My friends at Parkside Brewery have done us the pleasure of collaborating to craft a very special beer – being released today in kegs and in 473ml tall can: The Parkside Brewery ‘Trunkline’ India White Ale

This idea for a collaborative, Vij’s-inspired beer started when I was part of the relocation and launch of Vij’s restaurant to Cambie Street, which coincided with the opening of Parkside Brewery.

I had the fortune of working alongside Vern Lambourne (Parkside Co-Owner & Head Brewer) in the late 90s at Big River Brewing Company, and for many years have had the pleasure of working in the business of local craft beer with Sam Payne (Parkside Co-Owner). This is a collaboration of not just brands and personalities, but of friends.

I am incredibly grateful to Vern, Sam and all the great people of Parkside for working with us to imagine and craft a delicious beer, as well as a tremendous packaging design and branding partnership. Thank you to Vij’s for being supportive and inspiring!

Here are the beer ingredient details:

– Pilsner malt (clean, crisp grain character)
– Wheat yeast (mellow palate tone)
– Wheat & oats (body)
– Lemon Drop & Magnum hops (flavour & bittering)
– Amarillo hops (dry hopping for aroma)
– Coriander, Green Cardamom & Orange peels (subtle aroma and character)
– 4.7% abv (easy and repeat drinking)
– 19 ibu (mellow mouthwatering bitterness)

Proud is an understatement! I hope you’ll enjoy this beer on its first batch. Available as of today at these BC restaurants, bars and retail locations:
