Many months ago we posted a reader’s poll listing what we considered to be the top five restaurant tables in Vancouver. We received so much in the way of reader feedback – both positive and negative that we’ve decided to shine a brighter light on the subject, one excellent table at a time.

At L’Abattoir, personal preference will always either have us tucked away in the back of the restaurant or sitting pretty at the bar, but there’s no denying the unique awesomeness of Table #11. The deuce is the same as any on the mezzanine banquette, only it’s at the edge of the drop-off looking down on the bar below. From up here you can see all the action both upstairs and down, including all the comings and goings from the front door. (If James Bond ever walked into this Gastown restaurant, this is where he would want to perch.) To eat? Aim for the mainstay Steak Diane at dinner, and the full breakfast of eggs, duck sausage, boudin noir, and rosti at brunch. To drink: natch, a Beefeater/Elyx Vesper martini made with Cocchi Americano Bianco.
