The Drive’s Prado Cafe To Open New Location At 100 West Hastings This February

One of Canada’s most respected and celebrated cafes, Prado on Commercial Drive, is opening a second location at 100 West Hastings.

I spoke to four-time World Barista Championship finalist Sammy Piccolo, who runs the character-heavy cafe, yesterday afternoon. He says they took possession of the 1,067 sqft space last month and aim to have the 20 seater open on February 28th.

The corner of Hastings and Abbott on the western edge of Gastown makes for a solid location, one that’s competitively close to the like-minded bean fetishists at Lukes General Store, Timbertrain, and Revolver. It’s hard to imagine them doing anything but a brisk trade here.
