The recently unveiled and quite stunning Vancouver Urban Winery hosted their first wine dinner last night. Planned by VUW staffer Tony Trieu, the event was catered by chef Maria Huynh of Chau Veggie and the soon-to-open Satori Factory (both located at 34th and Victoria). It was a 5 course Vietnamese-French feast paired with wines fresh from the taps of VUW’s tasting bar with notes from resident sommelier David Stansfield. There is no hard intel on when the next dinner will be, but we’ve been told to keep some Thursdays in November open. In the meantime, the tasting bar is open for sips Monday through Wednesday from 11am to 6pm, and Thursday and Friday from 11am to 9pm. The next time you’re up for an evening in Gastown or thereabouts, this would be a great place to hit up first before your palate gets punched.
