The GOODS from Ocean Wise

Vancouver, BC | More than a dozen of B.C.’s finest Ocean Wise restaurants, twelve of its top wineries, and numerous businesses, professionals and conservationists will unite on October 18th for a common goal – to raise funds for aquatic conservation by contributing to Toast to the Coast, presented by CIBC, Vancouver Aquarium’s fetching annual fall fundraising event.

More than 500 dazzling guests are expected to gather at 7:30 p.m. for this celebration of superb food, delicious wines and fascinating undersea life. The event, now in its eighth year, always sells out. In 2012, Toast to the Coast raised more than $100,000 for the Aquarium’s conservation, research and education programs, supporting important initiatives such as Ocean Wise™, its national, award-winning, sustainable-seafood program.

Guests at Toast to the Coast are never at a loss for discussion points with the thousands of mesmerizing jellies on display, along with the other 50,000 beguiling aquatic creatures found at the Aquarium. As music wafts through the space, guests will wander the subtly-lit galleries while quaffing stellar B.C. wines from wineries like Poplar Grove, Howling Bluff and Mission Hill, nibbling Ocean Wise canapés from the celebrated chefs at the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver, Yew Seafood + Bar, The Sonora Room at Burrowing Owl Winery and TUC Craft Kitchen, and falling for the seductions of Soirette macarons and sweets from xoxolat.

Over the course of the evening, guests will have an opportunity to bid on amazing silent auction items that include a Whistler weekend getaway at the Westin complete with Ziptrek experience and Oakley Airwave Goggles that display speed and altitude, navigate, and interface with a smartphone. Four tickets to December’s Pearl Jam concert are among the fundraising booty on offer.

With guest safety in mind, the Vancouver Trolley Company will run trolleys between Waterfront Station and the event venue starting at 7:30 p.m., with the last trolley leaving the Aquarium at 11:45 p.m. Watch for the old-fashioned Vancouver Trolley and climb aboard.

Please note that this is a 19-plus event. Tickets are $95 and are available at www.vanaqua.org/tttc.
