The GOODS from The Irish Heather

Vancouver, BC | Peach season has arrived in the Okanagan Valley—and, here in Vancouver, Heather Hospitality Group (HHG) is ready to celebrate this incredible bounty. On Wednesday, August 14th, Pit for Your Supper will see 50 volunteers don aprons, roll up their sleeves and dive into pitting 1,500 pounds of fresh Okanagan peaches. After the last peach has been pitted, these volunteers will feast on a delicious meal, sip on local artisan beer and rub elbows with new friends.

Following the success of last year’s Pit for Your Supper events—which saw the pitting of Okanagan cherries, apricots, pears and apples—this year’s event highlights peaches. After they’ve been pitted, the peaches will be utilized in a number of food and beverage items at the group’s restaurants. In September, HHG will host Pit for Your Supper events featuring pears and apples (dates to be announced). To volunteer at this popular event and get on the list, e-mail reso [at] irishheather.com. Note that vegetarian and vegan meals may be requested ahead of time.

The Irish Heather is Vancouver’s most authentic and traditional Irish pub with wallpaper hand made in Ireland, floors made of Guinness barrels reclaimed from the Guinness brewery in Ireland, original Irish period posters and the best Guinness pour in town. Located in the heart of historic Gastown, this gastropub has garnered many accolades for its service, food, drinks and ambiance. In a world filled with “Plastic Paddy” establishments, the Heather stands out as a beacon of authenticity. A true Irish House that is owned and operated by Irish people.
