The GOODS from Salt Tasting Room

Vancouver, BC | Last week we pre-sold 600lbs of cherries in 20lb boxes. This week we are offering organic apricots. These organic apricots are grown in the Similkameen Valley in the Okanagan. These apricot trees are lined up in a row by a beekeeper who uses them as sign posts for his bees. The bees follow the trees as they work their way back to the hives from the neighbouring properties. Because these apricots serve a greater purpose – as bee sign posts – they are not treated like apricots that are grown for trade. They are not irrigated and are pretty much ignored. This results in an apricot that is slightly smaller than those you see in the supermarket but they’re bursting with an intense, concentrated flavour. For years the beekeeper just to let them fall off the trees…that is until we persuaded him to sell some to us. These are the apricots that we are bringing to Vancouver for collection on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 30th. We’ll sell them to you in lots of 10lb for $35 or 20lb for $60. Place your order by Sunday 28th at 8pm and they’ll be picked Monday morning, ready for collection at the Kitsilano location of Salt Tasting Room or at Gastown’s Rainier Provisions on Tuesday afternoon.
