HONOUR BOUND: Get Together In Support Of Sean Hamilton At The Old Boneta Space

As many in the local food and wine trade are aware, industry lifer Sean Hamilton is going through a battle with cancer. Naramata winery JoieFarm and the good folks at Boneta are organising a fundraiser for him. Here are the details, as supplied by JoieFarm’s Michael Dinn:

A cancer fundraiser is being thrown on behalf of a dear friend and colleague, Sean Hamilton, on Sunday June 24th at the old Boneta space from 7 pm – midnight.  Many of you know Sean from his time as a waiter, bartender, manager and restaurant owner over the past 20+ years. He is going through his second bought of cancer in the past 5 years and has been out of work for a year. Our goal is to cover his expenses for at least the next year so that he does not have to deal with financial stress while he works on getting better. We want to get as many of his friends and colleagues as possible out to the event so I am asking you to attend and/or forward this email or this facebook link:  https://www.facebook.com/events/321297984622183/  to as many of his friends and former colleagues that you know.

We are also looking for gift certificates and silent auction items so if you are able to help, please email me back and I will arrange for pickup or you can deliver it to the office of The Storeroom, 1396 Richards Street, Vancouver (hours 9 am – 7 pm M-F and 9-5 Sat & Sun). Let them know that it is for the JoieFarm fundraiser.  If you would like to contribute directly but are unable to attend, please email me back and I will give you instructions on how to do so.

An application is in processs with the BC Hospitality Foundation and we hope to receive matching funds of up to $5000 from them as well.

Please do what you can to spread the word. We hope to see many Scout readers there.
