LOOKCITY: On Pop Ups, Designing Fluevog Ads, & Shooting Obakki Behind The Scenes

by Jenny Bachynski | Calling all designers. Apply to be part of the Gather Pop Up Shop that will be taking place in downtown Vancouver July 27-29th. Shoppers, be prepared for local designers’ work, creative workshops, motion art installations and lots of other fun things.

The photo above is a closer look at Leo, the new shop on West 4th.

Girls is the new HBO show written and directed by its star, 25 year old Lena Dunham. It follows a group of 20-something women in New York and the adventures that follow. Check out Vogue to dress the part.

Get your creative juices flowing by sharing your artwork and design a Fluevog Ad. Prizes and street cred will follow (if you win).

In honour of Vancouver finally getting a J. Crew, I’ve picked out a hatdress and scarf for summer.

Are you a photographer with $50,000 to drop on a new camera? If so, I would suggest the special edition Leica M9-P for Hermès. The process video is so beautiful…

Any Scout brides looking for a locally designed dress? Jason Matlo is about to present his most recent bridal collection at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia.

Totally loving Obakki’s dreamy Spring/Summer 2012 behind the scenes video (above). See the full collection here. The Eugenia dress and the Cabane sweater are perfection!

Have you ever wondered what you would look like in your significant others clothing? Local photographer Hana Pesut can cure that curiosity for you. Check out her inspiring photo series called Switcheroos, featuring a ton of cool locals.

MEANWHILE, ON THE STREET THIS WEEK…

Elizabeth and Ariel from East Van | Loved seeing these two side by side. One lady in very feminine attire and the other in a very menswear inspired outfit. Great contrast.

Erika from downtown | Great little details. Pop in the pink flat and just the right amount of subtle leopard print.

HTC boots at Libertine on South Granville.

Jonathan from Chinatown | The hat, the shorts, the glasses…he just screamed summer. I couldn’t resist.

Sam from Fairview | Showing off a great way to transition your trench coat into summer.

Sandi from North Van | I spotted her from a couple blocks away. Everything was amazing. Subtle leopard print popping up again…

Maki from the West End | The perfect minimalist.

Sheryl from East Van | Comfy yet polished. The red lips finish the look of beautifully.
