The GOODS from Latitude

The Cascade Company is pleased to announce that Latitude Restaurant is set to join Habit Lounge, The Cascade Room, and the upcoming Union Bar + Kitchen, as part of our restaurant group.

“It seemed like a natural move” says Latitude founder Larry Nicolay. “By bringing the combined expertise of both groups together it opens up some very exciting future opportunities for all concerned”.

Chef Lisa Henderson, will remain at Latitude while taking on an executive chef position overseeing both Latitude and Union Bar + Kitchen.

The company’s Bar Operations Manager, Nick Devine is busy concocting a Latin influenced cocktail list and expects to up the ante with “… the best kickass Margaritas in the city”.

To implement the changes Latitude will close as of Tuesday, February 15th and re-open Thursday, March 3rd.

Full details will be available prior to re-opening. In the meantime please refer to our website at www.thecascadecompany.com as we post further information.

Latitude is a 46 seat restaurant and wine bar in the heart of the vibrant Main Street neighbourhood. Presented by the former owners of Tofino’s legendary RainCoast Cafe, Latitude’s menu is inspired by the wine regions of the Americas, with all seafood and meat selections sustainably harvested and produced in BC.

The carefully crafted wine list, focusing exclusively on North and South American wines, offers 36 choices by the glass from the Okanagan to Napa, from the Maipo to Patagonia. The emphasis on selections from Argentina and Chile assures high quality and affordability. The wine list is complemented by a solid range of domestic and international craft beers, as well as some fine scotches and brandies.

  1. Well it’s not surprising, the food at Latitude did not impress me at all and every time I walk by the place is empty. Cascade is my favourite joint in the hood so hopefully the mantra will creep up the street a few blocks. I think the menu will have to change though.

  2. Love Habit and Cascade. The one time I tried to go to Latitude, I couldn’t get a table–no big deal, it was a Saturday night and it was worth a try but we got major attitude and were told “What do you expect, this isn’t McDonalds” That was the last time I ever tried to go.

  3. I hope they don’t change the concept all that much. Pan-American is not something we get a lot of here in Vancouver. Should be interesting to see what happens with this.

  4. I am a big fan of Latitude. Their lamb shank is fantastic and I have always found the staff very friendly. The link up with the Cascade restaurants does make some sense but I wouldn’t say that there is much to choose between the three when it comes to standards of cuisine. They are all good.

  5. Latitude is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver, so I’m curious to see what changes here. I agree that the Pan-American concept should stay — very rare in this city. Either way, will definintely be back to see what’s new!

  6. Just wondering where the union bar+ kitchen is going in – haven’t heard of it before

  7. In Strath/China on Union. New building. Wrote about it in the paper back in Jan. Was told to wait on details way back. All the relevant info on Scout soon, I hope.
