News from Scout supporter R&B Brewing Co.

Vancouver, BC | R&B’s “Sungod Wheat Ale” was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for North American Style Wheat Beer. A second Gold medal was earned in the Stout category with their Dark Star Oatmeal Stout at the 2010 Canadian Brewing Awards. One of the brewery’s cornerstone products, Red Devil Pale Ale was bestowed the CBA Silver Medal for English Style Pale Ale and their newest brew, Bohemian Pilsner, took Bronze in the Kellerbrier category.

“We’re thrilled that our beers have been honoured with these four medals,” says brewery co-founder Barry Benson. “It’s also very rewarding to see our hand-crafted microbrews gaining popularity among consumers who appear to be choosing our specialty products in growing numbers.”

Rick Dellow, R&B co-founder and Master Brewer, was particularly pleased to see the Bohemian Pilsner recognized at this year’s competition, saying “this is a broad and highly competitive category, and we are very proud that the Judges acknowledged our Bohemian as an excellent example of a European style pilsner.”

With 390 entries submitted from 76 breweries across Canada, the 2010 edition of the Canadian Brewing Awards became the largest brewing competition ever held in Canada. Judging took place over a two-day period with a panel of 20 Certified Beer Judges considering aroma, appearance, flavour, mouth-feel and overall impression of entrants from the smallest startup microbreweries across the country to the largest of commercial Canadian breweries.

R&B’s award-winning beers are available from R&B Brewing Company, and can be found at distinctive eateries in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island, and also at specialty liquor stores in BC.

  1. They should make sure to produce more of the lemongrass cask version of their sungod. Quite delicious.
