The Vancouver Sun has just gotten wind that Morton’s steakhouse has closed. It’s not a very deep piece (it’s not much of a story), but the writer did do us all a favour by getting the dead restaurant’s main competitor to loan him some context and insightful commentary:
Rival restaurateur David Aisenstat (Hy’s, Gotham’s, the Shore Club and the Keg) wasn’t surprised. “I don’t think Morton’s format was ever particularly appealing to Canadians, frankly,” said Aisenstat from Mexico, where he is on vacation.
Translation: “And stay down!”
