How A Seattle Restaurant Deals With Their Foie Gras Protesters

foie1

A reader dispatch from Seattle –

Every Friday, the Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN) stages protests at Quinn’s and Lark. Rather than simply ignore the protesters…Quinn’s owners decided on a different tactic. Apparently the owner came out one Friday, told the protesters that they can protest until they are blue in the face, but it isn’t coming off the menu. He actually likes the attention…

So each Friday, Quinn’s donates 10% of all foie sales to NARN [Northwest Animal Rights Network]. Not sure if they see a spike in foie sales, but as you can see in a few of the pics, it’s pretty much standing room only in the restaurant. We were there at about 10pm and it was packed.

Unlike the dicks at Lib BC, these ones actually seemed pretty chill. I walked right by them and into the restaurant expecting them to approach me or say something to me … not a word. No graphic videos pressed up against the massive picture windows. Their chants were even kinda cute (although I guess chants are a little easier to deal with at a hoppin’ gastropub than a quiet fine dining place). My friend actually went out and pretended to be their friend and got them to write the chants down, I was sitting in the window trying to keep a straight face.

“How many ducks suffered today? Quinn’s is to blame!”

“That’s diseased liver! That’s not dinner!”

“We are here to let you know foie gras has to go!”

“Force fed ducks, foie gras sucks!”

  1. Glad to see the NARN folks keeping up the fight! Good work! Thanks for reporting on it.

  2. Brilliant. I love the last chant. I can see the pain of them accepting the cheque from Foie sales. Ahh, the dilemma.

  3. So…

Are they actually donating that 10%? Either way, that`s a hillarious sign!
