Why Not a Long Dining Room Table of Vancouver Island?

Artist Eduard Locota make hyper-realistic tables of islands and the underwater topography of their coasts using different colours of epoxy glass over a base of marble. It’s a crazy laborious process, and one we’d love to see applied to a long dining table representing the shape of Vancouver Island and its bountiful coasts.

The one depicted in the photos and video above and below is a one tonne detail of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea that took over a month to make. The cool thing is that Eduardo is down to do any island his customer’s want. The cost, however, is a little prohibitive: $53,000 USD.
