We Want This Japanese-Inspired Teapot by Lupa Ceramics

We’re a pretty satisfied bunch, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t covetous. Sometimes we see things out there that we just must have. This is an archive of those earthly desires. During the holiday season, the Cool Thing We Want column goes into overdrive, so keep checking back for more gift ideas.

Considering all of the tea we consume this time of year, it only makes sense that a beautiful teapot would be at the top of our wish list. Local artist Kristine Aguilar of Lupa Ceramics‘ black, speckled vessel (and matching cup, $20) caught our eye immediately. At $110, the Japanese-inspired set is something of an investment, but it’s one that – for us at least – will pay itself off through consistent daily use over the winter.

It’s currently turning heads in the window display at the Good Omen Shop in New West, but you can find more of Lupa’s wares at the Dusty Babe’s Collective Women’s Object + Ornament Market until December 16th; at VisualSpace’s Winter Art & Craft Show (opening on December 5th); and at the BC Gallery of Ceramics on Granville Island.
