Spring calls for new experiences. One way for all you adventurous Vancouver cocktail enthusiasts out there to tap into the season is with Botanist’s new ‘The Water of Life (Eau de Vie)’ cocktail menu. We’re so down.
With its influx of fresh local ingredients, combined with BC-made spirits, and a healthy dose of innovation (courtesy of Creative Beverage Director Grant Sceney and Executive Chef Hector Laguna), the second iteration of Botanist’s experiential cocktail series is designed to step up your love of alchemy with some next-level thirst-quenching drinks, paired with corresponding complementary snacks.
Each of the four new cocktail recipes is inspired not just by the all-important element of water, but also its “profound impact on botany through its many forms, from oceans and volcanoes to evaporation, clouds and rain”: ‘Pale Blue Dot’ (Pacific Ocean blue algae from the Pacific Ocean, Copperpenny oyster shell gin, oyster leaf distillate and lacto-fermented cucumber pineapple syrup); ‘The Ring of Fire’ (yogurt-washed and clarified 12-year-old rum, Canadian Rye Whiskey and melon liqueur, with passionfruit distillate, vanilla, and lemon cordial); ‘Raincouver’ (vodka, hints of yuzu, pine, aperitif wine and citrus, Perrier, served with an edible cherry blossom “cloud”); and ‘Earths Energy’ (blanco tequila, Esquimalt vermouth, Woods Distillery amaro chiaro, and chamomile elderflower).
Sounds like four very good reasons to head to Gastown and hit up Botanist to us! Check out the full menu here, and then see you posted up at the bar very soon!
WHY WE CARE
Vancouver isn’t exactly known for it’s innovation…which is why we’re always more-than-happy to amplify the efforts of passionate, local F&B pros and businesses who are pushing the envelope. And that’s exactly the MO of Botanist’s ‘Cocktail Lab’ – a veritable science laboratory of serious culinary gadgets used in whipping up some seriously creative drinks out of BC bounty – has been doing since 2018. A vibrant cocktail culture is at the heart of any truly interesting, liveable city, after all!
