Canwest | Company | Canwest Global Communications Corporation, or Canwest, was a media company that became synonymous with corporate media monopoly and a neo-liberal editorial stance. For many years, Canwest dominated the media landscape of Vancouver, owning Global TV, The Province, The Vancouver Sun, and The National Post. When the company went bankrupt, there was much rejoicing. In the aftermath, the papers became Post Media, and the broadcasting operations went to Shaw.
