Five years ago this week I tried my first ever Lucky’s Doughnut. I remember it well. I was taking a look inside the Mt. Pleasant location of its parent company, 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, which was opening the very next day on the southeast corner, when a variety box of veritable beauties was put in front of me. Though I can’t recall which doughnut I bit into first (because you better believe I went to town on the whole box), I do remember thinking that the place wasn’t going to suffer a lack of customers.
