by Andrew Morrison | It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly been six years since The Diamond opened its doors upstairs at 6 Powell Street in Gastown. We took these pictures – using not a very good camera, mind you – over the six-ish months that it was under construction (Nov, 2008 – May 2009). Needless to say, owners Mark Brand and Josh Pape were pretty thrilled to find a thong-wearing snorkeler painted on the floorboards in what would become the restaurant’s legendary Elk Room hideaway.
